Arlanda vs. Bromma vs. Skavsta: Which Stockholm Airport Are You Actually Flying Into?
Stockholm has three airports serving very different routes, and confusing them is one of the most common — and costly — travel mistakes visitors make.
"Stockholm Airport" isn't one place — it's three, and they're far enough apart that landing at the wrong one changes your entire arrival plan.
Arlanda (ARN) is the main international hub. Roughly 40 minutes from central Stockholm, it's where almost all long-haul and most international flights land, including the majority of business travel. If you booked through a major carrier, this is almost certainly your airport.
Bromma (BMA) is close but limited. Only about 20 minutes from the city center, Bromma mainly handles domestic Swedish routes and a handful of European ones. It's the fastest airport to reach by far, but far fewer airlines fly there.
Skavsta (NYO) is nowhere near Stockholm. Despite the branding, Skavsta is roughly 100km south of the city — a 60-90 minute transfer depending on traffic. It's used almost exclusively by budget carriers chasing lower landing fees. If your ticket was unusually cheap, check which airport it actually lands at before you assume it's a quick hop into town.
Why this matters for booking a transfer: the price and duration of a private transfer differs enormously between these three. A fixed quote for "Stockholm Airport" without specifying which one is a red flag — always confirm the airport code (ARN, BMA, or NYO) when you book, not just the city name.
